Giant Catrina statue collapses in Querétaro due to wind
A monumental Day of the Dead themed structure, a giant Catrina, collapsed at the Mirador de Los Arcos tourist corridor in Querétaro due to intense wind gusts.
Municipal authorities and civil protection personnel responded to the scene after receiving emergency reports. Preliminary investigations indicated that the decorative figure lost structural stability under the pressure of the wind, causing it to fall onto the pedestrian walkway.
Emergency services cordoned off the area to mitigate risks to pedestrians and motorists. Officials confirmed that the incident resulted only in material damage to the ornamental installation, with no reported injuries to people, damage to the historic Los Arcos structure, or damage to private vehicles. The fallen elements were removed, and the area was partially reopened under supervision.
