Giant pumpkins set new world and national records
New records have been set for giant pumpkins in both the United Kingdom and Poland.
In the United Kingdom, twins Ian and Stuart Paton of Pinetops Nursery broke the Guinness World Record for the heaviest pumpkin. Their specimen, named ‘Muggle’, weighed 1,278.8 kg at the 6th Wargrave Nursery Giant Vegetable Weigh-off in Berkshire. This achievement surpassed the previous record held by Travis Gienger by 31.9 kg. The pumpkin also set a record for circumference, measuring 649.8 cm.
In Poland, growers Krzysztof and Tomasz Olejniczak set a national record during the 11th Bania Fest in Krapkowice. Their pumpkin, named ‘Renia’, weighed 918 kg, exceeding the growers' initial estimate of 870 kg. The record-breaking pumpkin was grown in controlled greenhouse conditions over a period of approximately four months.
