New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart introduced President Donald Trump at a rally in Suffern, New York, on May 22 2026. The appearance sparked immediate criticism, especially from teammate outside linebacker Abdul Carter, who posted on X, “Thought this s— was AI, what we doing man,” before deleting the tweet. Carter later said, “Some things are bigger than football,” and emphasized that his objection was not personal.

The Giants held a team meeting where veterans Brian Burns, Kayvon Thibodeaux and Jameis Winston spoke, and both Dart and Carter addressed the media. Dart explained his decision as a “unique opportunity” driven by respect for the presidency and his family’s military background, saying he “always loved this country.” Carter reiterated his stance, stressing the need to stand on his beliefs while maintaining team unity.

President Trump publicly defended Dart on Truth Social, calling him a “winner,” praising his jersey sales, and urging critics to stop “jealous” attacks. He pledged to see Dart at the White White House. Coach John Harbaugh and other players, including Jermaine Eluemunor, affirmed that the locker room remained cohesive.

The controversy has dominated the Giants’ offseason OTA period, drawing extensive media coverage that blends sports performance with a politicized debate.
