Cam Skattebo cleared for Giants training camp after backflip incident

New York Giants running back Cam Skattebo received full medical clearance and took part in the team’s first practice on Wednesday in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia. The 24‑year‑old is recovering from a dislocated ankle, fractured tibia/fibula and ruptured deltoid ligament suffered last season and says he feels about 99 % healthy.

During Fanatics Fest on July 18 in New York City, Skattebo attempted a backflip that landed awkwardly on his surgically repaired ankle. General manager Joe Schoen and head coach John Harbaugh spoke to him afterward, warning that such stunts pose health and perception risks. Skattebo acknowledged the talks, stating he will keep backflips off the field and focus on training. He is slated to be ready for the season opener on Sept 13 against Dallas.

The incident drew media attention, but the Giants confirmed the player is cleared to compete and will remain disciplined in his off‑field activities.
