Giardini Diaz pond safety concerns raised after maintenance
Local councilor Tommaso Domizi has raised concerns regarding public safety and prevention following an incident at the Giardini Diaz park. During recent maintenance work on the fountain system, the park's pond was completely drained of water.
While the pond was empty, it became accessible to the public, leading children and youths to use the area as an improvised bicycle track. Domizi noted that while the sight may have seemed harmless, the empty pond contained protruding fountain elements that posed a significant risk of injury from falls.
He emphasized that safety measures should focus on prevention rather than reacting after an accident occurs. Domizi argued that when temporary works alter the intended use of a public space, administrators must anticipate how citizens will interact with that space to prevent potential hazards.
