Giarratana celebrates traditional San Bartolomeo festivities

The town of Giarratana is celebrating its traditional patronal festivities in honor of Saint Bartholomew the Apostle. A central event is the historic San Bartolomeo Fair, scheduled for Friday, August 21, from 6:00 to 12:00, featuring market stalls and community gatherings.

The celebrations include a diverse religious and social program. Religious observances include a triduum with Eucharistic adoration, the Rosary, and masses presided over by clergy such as Fra’ Giovanni Calcara and Giuseppe Russelli. A special evening of reflection for youth is also planned in Piazza San Bartolomeo.

In addition to religious rites, the festivities feature community activities such as a night-time five-a-side football tournament organized by the local festivities committee and Centro Olimpia Giarratana. The tournament, which involved fifteen teams, concluded with Pititto winning on penalties. Other scheduled events include the XXXIX Day of Giarratanese in the World and various musical performances.
