Giarre: Man arrested after gas leak threat and assaults

A 41-year-old man of Russian origin has been placed under house arrest in Giarre, Italy, following a series of violent incidents. The individual, who was already known to law enforcement, was initially reported by a landlord for opening a kitchen gas meter while in a state of agitation, likely due to alcohol consumption, posing a risk to the apartment building.

After Carabinieri officers convinced him to close the gas and secured the premises, the man later moved into the street where he began attacking passersby. When emergency medical personnel and Carabinieri arrived to intervene, the man reportedly attacked both the healthcare workers and the officers. He has been charged with resistance to a public official.
