Giarre museum relocates to IIS Leonardo school

The Museo Etneo delle Migrazioni is temporarily relocating from its Palazzo delle Culture location to the Corso Europa complex of the IIS Leonardo school in Giarre. This move is necessary while the museum's original building undergoes restyling works.

The relocation follows difficulties in finding an alternative municipal venue capable of hosting the significant cultural collection. The agreement was facilitated by school principal Tiziana D’Anna, utilizing a 2006 memorandum of understanding between the Municipality of Giarre and the institute.

During its stay at the school, the museum will continue to document the migratory processes affecting the Etnean territory from the late 19th century to the present day. The exhibition features testimonies, photographs, and objects detailing the economic and social drivers that led thousands of Sicilians to seek new opportunities abroad.
