Gibanje Svoboda proposes winter energy supplement for Slovenia
The Gibanje Svoboda party, led by Robert Golob, has called on Janez Janša’s government to implement a winter energy supplement to mitigate energy poverty. The proposal suggests establishing a legal basis for a one-time or two-stage payment to be distributed before or at the start of the main heating season.
Target recipients would include those receiving cash social assistance and protection supplements, as well as households slightly above the threshold that demonstrate an above-average energy burden. Additionally, the party proposed introducing vouchers or prepayments for heating oil, pellets, and wood for vulnerable households in November.
Beyond energy policy, the party expressed criticism regarding the Skok Act, arguing it creates legal uncertainty and increases political influence over the appointment of state prosecutors. They have also called for a professional working group to oversee a comprehensive reform of the criminal procedure law.
