Gibellina and Bologna host major Italian photography exhibitions

From 5 to 24 September, the Cretto di Burri in Gibellina Vecchia will host the exhibition “Terre di Sicilia e Tunisia – Memoria condivisa”. Organized as part of Gibellina’s designation as the Italian Capital of Contemporary Art 2026, the show brings together sixteen Italian and Tunisian photographers to explore shared landscapes, traditions and collective memory between Sicily and Tunisia. The project is supported by the Tunisian consul in Palermo, the Italian Cultural Institute in Tunis, the mayor Salvatore Sutera and local partners, and includes Mediterranean food tastings.

From 1 October the Archaeological Museum in Bologna will present “L’arte di osservare”, a retrospective of Elliott Erwitt that runs until 28 February 2027. Curated by Biba Giacchetti and produced by Civita Mostre e Musei, the exhibition offers previously unseen photographs and personal material that reveal the intimate side of the renowned 20th‑century photographer, complementing his iconic images of figures such as Marilyn Monroe and Che Guevara.
