Gibraltar construction site fire brought under control

Emergency services have brought a fire at a construction site in the Bayside area of Gibraltar under control. The operation involved approximately 50 personnel, including 30 firefighters from Gibraltar and 16 additional officers, supported by the Airport Fire and Rescue Service (AFRS) which provided specialized equipment.

While the fire was contained to the construction site and no evacuations were required for the Glacis or surrounding residential areas, authorities issued precautionary advice for local residents. Residents were advised to stay indoors, keep windows and doors closed, and switch off air conditioning systems due to the presence of smoke.

Regarding aviation, the government clarified that a flight from London-Gatwick was not diverted but was briefly held before landing in Gibraltar at 21:24. The Mayor of La Línea de la Concepción offered assistance to the Chief Minister, though it has not been requested at this time.
