Gibran Rakabuming Raka diploma controversy sparks calls for parliamentary inquiry
Political analysts and observers are debating the implications of the Constitutional Court's ruling regarding Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka's educational credentials. Following the court's decision that Gibran does not possess a high school equivalent diploma, social and political analyst Ubedilah Badrun described the situation as a major political scandal. He noted the irony of high unemployment rates among Gen Z graduates compared to the Vice President's disputed credentials, warning that this could undermine national standards and integrity.
In response to the controversy, political observer Pangi Syarwi Chaniago has called on the House of Representatives (DPR RI) to utilize its right of inquiry (hak angket). Chaniago argues that opening an investigation is essential to provide public proof and maintain trust in the Indonesian legal system. He emphasized that the DPR should not close off investigation channels, as doing so might create the perception that the law is being manipulated.
