Gibran Rakabuming Raka diploma controversy sparks impeachment debate

Controversy regarding Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka’s high school diploma has escalated, with legal experts and activists discussing potential impeachment implications. Constitutional law expert Fritz Siregar cautioned against jumping to conclusions regarding impeachment, noting that any legal challenge must first prove that candidacy requirements were not met through formal verification processes involving the KPU, DPR, Constitutional Court, and MPR.

Simultaneously, legal expert and contestation advocate Prof. Denny Indrayana has increased the prize for a public challenge to produce the diploma. The reward has risen to over Rp1.05 billion, bolstered by a land endowment valued at Rp700 million. Indrayana stated the initiative aims to uphold electoral integrity and constitutional ethics, urging the Vice President to present the document to resolve the dispute.
