Gibran Rakabuming Raka's diploma controversy to be discussed in DPR

Political tensions are rising in Indonesia as the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) plans to bring the controversy regarding Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka's educational diplomas to the House of Representatives (DPR). PKS Secretary General Muhammad Kholid stated that the party is building political communication with other factions to explore using parliamentary instruments, such as the right of inquiry, to investigate the validity of the documents.

The Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) has expressed readiness to engage in dialogue on the matter. PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto emphasized that the issue extends beyond administrative concerns, touching upon legal integrity and national leadership ethics. He specifically referenced Constitutional Court Decision Number 90 of 2023, suggesting it may have facilitated an abuse of power and raised questions regarding the constitutional requirement for a high school diploma.

Conversely, the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) has criticized the move, arguing that the legal matter should have been resolved following the Constitutional Court's rulings.
