Gibson releases limited-edition Tom Petty Flying V guitars

Gibson has launched a limited-edition 50th Anniversary Tom Petty Flying V guitar collection to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers' self-titled 1976 debut album. The collection, referred to as the ‘Flying Five’, consists of 250 guitars worldwide, with 50 units produced in each of five distinct finishes: Gainesville Gold, Graphite Metallic, Heartbreaker Red, Pearl White Metallic, and Pelham Blue.

The guitars feature mahogany bodies and necks, rosewood fretboards, and 70s Tribute humbuckers. Commemorative details include a Heartbreaker 50th truss rod cover and a reproduction of Petty’s signature on the back.

Alongside the instruments, Gibson and the Tom Petty Estate have released a range of apparel and collectibles in collaboration with the Nashville brand imogene+willie. This includes a limited run of 75 leather jackets modeled after the one Petty wore on the debut album cover.
