Gießen and Göttingen Implement Bus Reroutes and Road Closures for Construction Projects

In the city of Gießen, road resurfacing at the Wiesecker Weg/Dürerstraße intersection and the installation of a district‑heating pipeline will force bus line 5, line 15 and the night‑bus “Venus” onto detours beginning 27 July 2026. The changes affect several stops – for example, Theodor‑Litt‑Schule, Feuerbachstraße and Röderring will be skipped – and alternative stops on Marburger Straße, Ludwig‑Richter‑Straße and other streets will be used. The temporary routing is scheduled to remain in force until about 21 August 2026.

In Göttingen, the Hagenweg will be fully closed from mid‑August 2026 until 23 October 2026 while the municipal waste‑management authority strengthens flood‑protection on the Leine and the city utility expands district‑heating infrastructure in the west‑city area. The closure also impacts bus services, which will be redirected, and provides an alternate pedestrian and cyclist route via the Godehardstraße bridge. Flood‑protection work includes installing back‑flow devices at roughly 30 outfalls to prevent Leine‑related overtopping of rain‑water networks.
