Gießen public transport updates due to construction and route changes

Public transport services in Gießen are undergoing changes due to construction and infrastructure updates.

Starting Monday, September 21, 2026, the Mittelhessische Wasserbetriebe will conduct canal works at the intersection of Moltkestraße, Eichgärtenallee, and Roonstraße. This will result in partial closures affecting bus line 7 and the Venus night bus line. Line 7 will be diverted via Jahnstraße, Pestalozzistraße, Curtmannstraße, and Grünberger Straße toward Berliner Platz, with a replacement stop at Pestalozzischule. The Venus night bus will also experience route changes and stop adjustments in the direction of Wieseck and from Wieseck.

In a separate update, traffic in Burgstraße north of the Fackelbrunnen is set to be released on Monday, September 9. This allows bus lines 103, 106, 111, and 115 to resume stopping on the south side of the fountain. Additionally, lines 105 and 107 will now stop directly at the Fackelbrunnen, improving access to the pedestrian zone and reducing travel times. These changes are part of the implementation of a new local transport plan.
