Gietrzwałd to celebrate 149th anniversary of Marian apparitions

Gietrzwałd will celebrate the 149th anniversary of the Marian apparitions on Sunday, September 13. The festivities include the 60th Archdiocesan Harvest Festival and a central Mass on the Gietrzwałd meadows, which will be presided over by the Apostolic Nuncio to Poland, Archbishop Antonio Guido Filipazzi.

To accommodate the expected influx of pilgrims, significant traffic changes and public transport adjustments have been implemented. Special bus lines, G1 and G2, will operate from Olsztyn to provide access to the sanctuary. Police have advised motorists that passenger vehicles should enter from the Ostróda side via Woryty to reach upper parking lots.

The event also marks the beginning of a pilgrimage of a copy of the Lady of Gietrzwałd image through the parishes of the Warmian Archdiocese, starting September 14.
