Giffoni Film Festival finale showcases Italian food culture and Varese heritage

The 66th edition of the Giffoni Film Festival concluded with a night dedicated to food culture. The event highlighted the Mediterranean diet, sustainability and waste‑reduction through the Giffoni Food Talk format and the participation of Master Chefs.

Varese was prominently represented: actress and local official Luz Adriana Sarcinelli helped bring regional visibility, while artisan baker Simona Lauri presented traditional breads such as Pan Tramvai and Pan de Mej, made with millet flour and local ingredients. The evening also featured a collaborative anti‑waste initiative, introducing a focaccia enriched with ricotta mousse under the “il DONO” brand.

Organisers Sileno Candela (president) and Rosa Barbato (coordinator) emphasized the festival’s expanding role in linking cinema with contemporary societal themes.
