GIFT City pitched as global gateway at World Bank roundtable
Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel presented GIFT City as a global gateway for international capital during a high-level roundtable at the World Bank in Washington. Patel invited global institutions to participate in the state’s upcoming phase of growth, focusing on financial services, advanced manufacturing, and emerging technologies.
During the meeting, Patel highlighted Gujarat’s semiconductor manufacturing plans and the expansion of social infrastructure intended to transform GIFT City into a liveable business hub for financial institutions and technology professionals. He also extended an invitation for participants to attend the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2027.
The roundtable was chaired by Indermit Gill, the World Bank Group’s Chief Economist, and included various high-ranking officials from the World Bank, IFC, and IMF. Hemang Jani, the World Bank Executive Director representing India, Bangladesh, Bhutan, and Sri Lanka, described the session as a ‘landmark Roundtable on GIFT City.’
