Gift Orban's Failed Tottenham Transfer and New Loan to Turkish Club Amedspor

Nigerian striker Gift Orban attracted major interest in 2023 after scoring 16 goals in 22 games for Stabaek in Norway and then 20 goals in 22 matches for Belgian side Gent. Following Harry Kane’s departure to Bayern Munich, Tottenham Hotspur, under new manager Ange Postecoglou, identified Orban as a potential replacement. Negotiations stalled when Tottenham were unwilling to meet Gent’s reported £25 million asking price, and the transfer collapsed.

Since the failed move, Orban’s form has dipped. He scored three goals for Gent in the 2023‑24 season, then moved to French club Lyon and later to Bundesliga side Hoffenheim, where he managed four goals. A loan spell at Verona in Serie A saw him rediscover some scoring touch with seven goals. In the latest development, Orban has joined newly promoted Turkish Süper Lig side Amedspor on loan, aiming to revive the promise that once made him one of Europe’s most sought‑after young forwards.
