Gigabyte announces new Aorus motherboards for AMD AM4 and AM5 platforms

Gigabyte has announced a new series of Aorus B550 X motherboards designed for the AMD AM4 socket. These boards are optimized for the Ryzen 7 5800X3D processor and maintain support for DDR4 memory, allowing users with existing AM4 configurations to upgrade components more easily.

Key technical features of the B550 series include Wi-Fi 7 support, 160 MHz frequency channels, and 4K-QAM modulation. The hardware includes a 10-phase VRM with 60 A DrMOS components, enhanced thermal management via larger heatsinks and 5 W/mK thermal pads, and tool-less M.2 installation systems. Models will be available in Gaming, Eagle, and Elite variants in both ATX and Micro-ATX formats.

In the high-end segment, AMD's 800-series chipsets have also been introduced for the AM5 platform. Gigabyte's flagship X870 AORUS Infinity motherboard is part of this new generation, designed to support Zen 5-based Ryzen 9000 CPUs. The X870 and X870E chipsets feature standard USB 4.0, PCIe Gen5 for both graphics and NVMe, and improved EXPO memory clock support.
