Gigi Becali defends clinic investments and free medical care

Gigi Becali, owner of the FCSB football club, has addressed allegations regarding his medical clinic and its contracts with the National Health Insurance House (CNAS). He stated that his total investment in the clinic has reached approximately 14 million euros and that he incurs annual costs of about 1 million euros, much of which is dedicated to providing free treatment for impoverished patients.

Becali specifically highlighted the financial burden of treating patients with mastocytosis, a rare disease, noting that these patients cost him approximately 300,000 euros per year in free care. He expressed concern that certain interests may be attempting to close his clinic, which would leave these rare-disease patients without support. He clarified that the reimbursement of medical tests through CNAS is a standard procedure for all clinics under contract with the state insurance system.
