Gijón Book Fair establishes itself as a major Spanish literary event

The Gijón Book Fair, popularly known as FeLiX, has established itself as a significant literary event in Spain. In a recent discussion on the ‘Libros y Cosas’ video podcast, director Jaime Priede and Aitor Martínez, director of the Gijón Municipal Culture Foundation, discussed the keys to the fair's success.

Under the motto ‘No (te) pierdas el norte’, the 2026 edition held in August saw high attendance from both readers and prominent authors, including Lucía Solla Sobral and Juan Gómez Bárcena. Priede emphasized that the fair's identity is deeply rooted in the city of Gijón, focusing on current themes and authors rather than merely seeking media-driven signings.

Martínez noted that after ten editions, the fair is now a guaranteed fixture in the regional cultural agenda for the coming decades.
