Gijón chestnut season begins despite warm weather

The roasted chestnut season has officially begun in Gijón, despite unseasonably warm temperatures. Local vendors have opened their stalls, maintaining a long-standing autumn tradition for residents and tourists.

Vendors noted that while the weather has been atypical for mid-autumn, demand remains steady. However, there are concerns regarding the duration of the season; due to recent wildfires and heat affecting harvest timing, some sellers anticipate a shorter season than in previous years. Prices for chestnut cones are currently set between 3 and 5 euros.
