Gilad Erdan withdraws Unity Party from Israeli elections

Gilad Erdan has announced that his newly established Unity Party will not compete in the upcoming Knesset elections. The decision follows approximately one month of campaigning during which the party failed to gain sufficient support to likely cross the electoral threshold.

Erdan, a former Likud minister and former Israeli ambassador to the United Nations, founded the party with the goal of forming a broad Zionist government capable of passing conscription laws and resolving national disputes. He noted that despite efforts to form alliances with other parties within a unity bloc, no agreements were reached.

In his announcement, Erdan observed that the public's primary focus appears to be on the identity of the next prime minister, rather than the formation of a broad unity government. While the party is withdrawing from the race, Erdan stated that his public activities will continue.
