Gilan Province reports tourism growth and social improvements
Gilan Governor Hadi Haghshenas announced significant developments in the province's tourism and social sectors. In the tourism industry, Rasht Airport recorded a record 640 flights in September, with approximately 30 percent being international flights to destinations including Turkey, Russia, and Iraq.
Infrastructure growth is also underway, with 12 four- and five-star hotels currently under construction and approval granted for 22 more. The province has added 2,500 accommodation beds recently, with an additional 20,000 beds in development. To support this, 500 billion tomans in facilities have been provided, with requests for an additional 2,000 billion tomans currently pending.
On the social front, Haghshenas reported a 7.2 percent decrease in divorce rates in Gilan. He also highlighted a successful reduction in drowning incidents during the swimming season, which fell by 82 percent. To support population growth and youth marriage, the governor emphasized the need for improved access to housing and land, noting that special measures are being coordinated with the Housing Foundation and the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development to facilitate land allocation for young couples.
