Gilas Pilipinas defeats Kazakhstan to stay in Asian Games title hunt

Gilas Pilipinas secured a 109-78 victory over Kazakhstan at the Aichi International Arena, keeping their title defense alive at the Asian Games in Nagoya, Japan. The win follows an opening loss to Bahrain, bringing the Philippines' record to 1-1 in Group C.

Jerrick Ahanmisi led the scoring with 22 points, while Robert Bolick contributed 20 points. The Philippines demonstrated strong shooting, hitting 55 percent from the three-point range. Other notable contributors included Calvin Oftana with 12 points and Sedrick Barefield with 11 points.

The victory sets up a critical final Group C match against China. A win against China would guarantee the Philippines a spot in the quarterfinals. If they lose, they may still qualify as one of the two best third-placed teams. China enters the matchup with a 2-0 record after defeating Bahrain 105-59.
