Gilas Pilipinas faces roster changes for FIBA Qualifiers

Gilas Pilipinas will face significant roster changes for the upcoming fourth window of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027 Asian Qualifiers. Naturalized player Justin Brownlee will miss the scheduled games against Jordan on August 28 and Iran on August 30 due to health concerns. National team coach Tim Cone stated that Brownlee is not healthy enough to contribute, noting that the player has been dealing with ankle and hamstring issues while undergoing rehabilitation in California.

Additionally, veteran center June Mar Fajardo indicated that the upcoming qualifiers may mark his final appearances for the national team. Fajardo expressed his intention to step aside to allow younger players to gain experience, confirming he will not participate in the Asian Games. Despite contemplating retirement from the national squad, Fajardo confirmed he will continue his professional career in the PBA.
