Gilas Pilipinas Women defeat Senegal to end FIBA tournament

The Gilas Pilipinas Women concluded their FIBA Pre-Olympic Qualifying Tournament campaign in Guadalajara, Mexico, with a 79-75 victory over Senegal. Despite earlier losses to hosts Mexico and Canada, the Philippines secured their only win of the tournament during this final match.

Key performances included 16 points each from Kacey dela Rosa, Vanessa De Jesus, and Sophia Dignadice. Veteran center Jack Animam contributed 14 points, while De Jesus added eight assists. Senegal was led by Cierra Dillard, who scored 25 points.

Following the tournament, new head coach BT Toews emphasized the need for improved execution and mental discipline. While the team missed the opportunity for an Olympic qualifying ticket, Toews stated the program is moving in the right direction and is now focusing on the upcoming Asian Games in Japan.
