Gilberto Gamiño appointed president of Cotuco Tijuana

Gilberto Gamiño Herrera has been appointed as the new president of the Tijuana Tourism and Conventions Committee (Cotuco), succeeding Karim Chalita Rodríguez. His primary objective is to position Tijuana as a competitive destination on both national and international stages by integrating various tourism sectors.

Gamiño Herrera’s initial agenda includes conducting an internal diagnostic with board members to evaluate the organization’s structure, budget, and current work plan. The strategy focuses on five key pillars: governance and integration, product and experience, promotion and branding, connectivity, and human capital and quality.

The leadership aims to boost economic impact by promoting diverse segments, including medical, real estate, adventure, cultural, gastronomic, and convention tourism. To achieve this, the committee plans to coordinate efforts between hotels, restaurants, academic institutions, business chambers, and government authorities. Additionally, Cotuco intends to increase its presence at major industry events such as IMEX America, IBTM, and Tianguis Turístico to attract more congresses and conventions to the city.
