Gilberto Gil musical to premiere in São Paulo

The musical ‘Gil – Andar com Fé’ is set to premiere on August 20 at the Teatro Santander in São Paulo, celebrating over six decades of the life and work of Brazilian music icon Gilberto Gil.

Directed by Miguel Falabella, the production aims to provide an immersive look at the artist's human and creative journey. The musical features Gui Ventura, a 37-year-old singer and actor from Minas Gerais, who was selected from approximately 800 candidates to portray Gilberto Gil on stage.

In a recent televised segment, Gilberto Gil met Ventura for the first time to witness the encounter. Ventura expressed that it is a “gigantic honor” to step into the role of such an influential figure, while Falabella noted the production's intent to honor the man who has created the soundtrack for generations.
