Gilberto Siqueira, former Acre Planning Secretary, dies at 70
Gilberto Siqueira, a prominent engineer and former Secretary of Planning for the state of Acre, has died at the age of 70 in São Paulo. Siqueira served in his planning role during the administrations of former governors Jorge Viana and Binho Marques, becoming a significant figure in the region's public management.
His death followed a period of serious health complications involving severe diabetes and cardiac issues. According to family reports, his condition worsened over the last month, requiring mechanical ventilation. After experiencing a suspected heart attack, he was initially treated at the Hospital de Urgência e Emergência de Rio Branco before being transferred to the Santa Casa de Misericórdia for specialized cardiological care.
Former Rio Branco Mayor Marcus Alexandre paid tribute to Siqueira, describing him as a ‘true master’ and a visionary in public management who contributed significantly to the development of Acre.
