Gilda Lozoya granted suspension in Agronitrogenados case

A federal judge in Mexico has granted a definitive suspension to Gilda Susana Lozoya Austin, halting the legal proceedings against her for alleged money laundering in the Agronitrogenados case. The ruling was issued by Rubén Darío Noguera Gregoire of the Eighth District Court in Criminal Matters in Mexico City.

Gilda Lozoya, the sister of former Pemex director Emilio Lozoya Austin, is accused by the Attorney General's Office (FGR) of participating in the transfer of illicit funds. The investigation suggests she benefited from approximately 3.4 to 3.5 million dollars in bribes allegedly paid by Altos Hornos de México (AHMSA) to her brother to facilitate Pemex's acquisition of the Agronitrogenados fertilizer plant.

The suspension does not constitute an acquittal but prevents the immediate advancement of the trial. A constitutional hearing is scheduled for September 29, 2026, to determine if the amparo will be permanently granted. The FGR maintains the right to appeal the decision before a collegiate tribunal.
