Gilles Villeneuve biopic to premiere at Toronto International Film Festival

The biographical film ‘Villeneuve: Rise of a Legend’, directed by Yan Lanouette Turgeon, is set to have its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). The film explores the early racing career of Formula 1 driver Gilles Villeneuve, tracing his journey leading up to his recruitment by Enzo Ferrari.

Jacques Villeneuve, the 1997 world champion and son of Gilles, expressed deep emotion regarding the film's focus on his father's formative years. He noted that the biopic avoids the common pitfall of rushing through a subject's prime, instead highlighting the building blocks of his father's career. Jacques also reflected on the circumstances surrounding his father's fatal crash during the 1982 Belgian Grand Prix, noting the personal impact of the event on his family.
