Gilmar Garcia withdraws candidacy for Mato Grosso do Sul state deputy

Gilmar Garcia, a former city councilor from Três Lagoas, has withdrawn his candidacy for a seat in the Legislative Assembly of Mato Grosso do Sul (Alems) for the 2026 elections.

Garcia, a member of the Green Party (PV), had officially registered his candidacy but submitted a resignation shortly thereafter. The electoral records indicate that the withdrawal was made “de forma livre, expressa e inequívoca” (freely, expressly, and unequivocally), with no elements suggesting the act was involuntary.

Garcia’s political career includes three terms as a councilor in Três Lagoas and several previous attempts at municipal and state-level offices across different political parties, including the PT, PSB, and PV.
