André Mendonça requests dismissal of investigation by Alexandre de Moraes
Supreme Court Justice André Mendonça has formally responded to allegations made by Justice Alexandre de Moraes, requesting the summary dismissal of a representation against him. The dispute centers on Mendonça’s conduct during investigations involving Banco Master and INSS fraud.
Mendonça contends that the Federal Police intelligence reports used by Moraes to suggest irregularities are apocryphal, lack probative value, and were produced with a “deviation of purpose” to intimidate him. In a 76-page filing submitted to STF President Edson Fachin, Mendonça also requested an investigation into the origin and authorship of these reports and called for a ban on future reports intended to scrutinize the judicial acts of Supreme Court ministers.
In a counter-move, Mendonça has requested that Moraes be investigated for abuse of authority and false accusation. The conflict intensified following the disclosure of messages between Moraes and former banker Daniel Vorcaro. President Fachin has ordered the Prosecutor General's Office to provide its opinion on the matter.
