Gimcheon University hosts seminar on sustainable regional festival growth

Gimcheon University Graduate School hosted an academic seminar titled ‘Sustainable Gimcheon: The Next Step 2026’ on the 22nd to explore strategies for the sustainable growth of regional festivals. The event, supported by Gimcheon City, aimed to move beyond simple visitor attraction by leveraging unique local culture and resources.

Key presentations included a discussion by Son Shin-uk of the Korea Culture and Tourism Institute on differentiation strategies for Gimcheon’s four major festivals, and a session by Professor Kim Young-hyun of Kyonggi University regarding the evaluation of regional festivals in Jeollabuk-do. The seminar concluded with a panel discussion focused on developing unique content, improving operational evaluations, and fostering cooperation between academia and the local community.
