Gimnasia La Plata reserves fall 2-0 to Godoy Cruz, playoff hopes fade

On Monday at the Bosque stadium in La Plata, the reserve side of Club de Gimnasia y Esgrima faced Godoy Cruz in the 17th round of the 2026 Torneo Proyección Apertura. Interim coach Guillermo Hernando led the team.

Godoy Cruz won 2-0 with goals by Joaquín Uroz in the 24th minute of added time and Benjamín Rojas in stoppage time. The defeat left Gimnasia’s reserves with 23 points, virtually out of playoff contention, dependent on results from River Plate vs Rosario Central and Argentinos Juniors vs Barracas Central.
