Gimpo City Council audits Gimpo FC and Youth Foundation

During administrative audits held on the 21st, the Gimpo City Council scrutinized management failures within Gimpo FC and the Gimpo Youth Foundation.

Regarding Gimpo FC, an audit revealed systemic weaknesses in accounting, personnel, and oversight following a 5.8 billion won embezzlement case. Investigators found that accounting duties were concentrated in a single employee without cross-verification, and the mandatory financial guarantee insurance for accounting staff had not been renewed since 2023. While the club has recovered approximately 280 million won, much of it has already been spent on personnel and team costs. Council members also criticized the lack of transparency in managing the 5 billion won in independent revenue that falls outside the scope of city-subsidized budget oversight.

Separately, the Gimpo Youth Foundation faced criticism for a controversial personnel reshuffle. An executive who was under investigation for misconduct—including private use of public facilities and workplace bullying—was promoted to a position overseeing audit and disciplinary duties. Additionally, the foundation was accused of violating regulations by implementing personnel changes for lower-level staff without obtaining final approval from the Mayor, despite board resolutions.
