Gimpo City integrates AI into climate awareness and reading initiatives
Gimpo City is integrating artificial intelligence into its local cultural and environmental initiatives. The city recently concluded its first ‘2026 Gimpo Reading Festival’ held at Modam Library. The event focused on the theme ‘Books, the Joy of Life,’ highlighting the evolving role of libraries in the AI era by combining humanities with technology through AI caricature zones and humanoid robot experiences.
In a separate initiative, Gimpo City is hosting the ‘2026 Gimpo City AI Climate Response Short-form Contest.’ This competition encourages citizens to use generative AI to create videos under 60 seconds that promote climate change awareness, carbon neutrality, and fine dust reduction. The contest aims to foster digital literacy and environmental sensitivity among the public, with selected works being used for official climate policy education and promotion.
