Gimpo City to host 19th World Citizens Festival

Gimpo City will host the 19th Gimpo World Citizens Festival at Gimpo Art Village on October 11, from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Under the theme ‘Gimpo Open to the World, Connecting Us through Peace,’ the event aims to foster understanding and exchange between local and foreign residents.

The festival features various cultural and culinary programs, including traditional clothing, crafts, and games from different nations. Visitors can sample traditional foods from six countries by participating in a stamp tour. The event also includes a flea market, food trucks, and various performances, such as a creative opera, a trot performance by Kim Myung-ji, and a choir composed of both local and foreign children.

A highlight of the event is a ceremony at 4:00 PM featuring a performance by singer Insooni and a parade of flags from 16 countries. The festival also serves a humanitarian purpose, with a fundraising booth established to support relief efforts for those affected by floods in Nepal due to the climate crisis.

Additional community programs will be available, such as fingerprint registration for missing children prevention and firefighter experiences for children. The event is hosted by Gimpo City and organized by the Gimpo Foreign Resident Support Center and the Gimpo Family Center.
