Güstrow murder trial: Defense attorney warns of likely conviction
The murder trial of 30-year-old Gina H., accused of killing eight-year-old Fabian in Güstrow, is approaching its conclusion at the Rostock District Court. The defendant is accused of luring the boy from his home on October 10, 2025, and killing him with at least six knife wounds near a pond in Klein Upahl before setting his body on fire.
Defense attorney Andreas Ohm stated in an interview that while his client continues to hope for an acquittal, the current proceedings are “moving toward a conviction.” Ohm noted that the defendant has frequently become entangled in contradictions during her testimony and expressed skepticism regarding her decision to testify.
A significant mystery remains regarding the murder weapon. Despite extensive searches involving metal detectors and pumping out local ponds, the knife used in the attack has not been recovered. Investigators have explored theories involving a camping knife belonging to a neighbor, but the weapon remains missing.
