Gina Hinojosa sues Texas Governor Abbott over Elon Musk emails

Texas Democratic gubernatorial nominee Gina Hinojosa has filed a lawsuit against Governor Greg Abbott to compel the release of redacted emails exchanged between the governor’s office and Elon Musk. Hinojosa alleges that the documents are being withheld because they are “intimate and embarrassing” and seeks to investigate the extensive connections between Abbott and Musk, including personal interactions, political contributions, and economic development incentives such as grants provided to SpaceX.

Abbott’s administration has dismissed the lawsuit as “baseless” and a “political stunt” intended to generate headlines. Hinojosa’s campaign, which focuses on education, labor rights, and corruption, aims to become the first Latina governor of Texas. The election, scheduled for November 3, is viewed as a significant contest that could impact the political balance in the state and the U.S. Congress.
