The incident reportedly occurred during a lunch at one of Rinehart’s holiday homes on the Sunshine Coast, where Pike found One Nation leader Pauline Hanson and other party figures in attendance.

Mr. Pike, who represents the seat of Bowman in Queensland, declined the overture, stating he remains a Liberal and believes in the party’s values. He characterized the interaction as an active attempt at recruitment but emphasized that he would not quit his current party.

Rinehart, the executive chair of Hancock Prospecting, has become a significant figure in Australian politics through her financial support and advisory role for One Nation.
