Gina Torres to play Omara Portuondo in Broadway musical

Cuban-American actress and producer Gina Torres will join the Broadway musical ‘Buena Vista Social Club’ to portray the legendary singer Omara Portuondo. Her run is scheduled from October 13 to November 29.

Torres, known for her roles in ‘Suits’, ‘Firefly’, and ‘911: Lone Star’, will replace actress Natalie Venetia Belcon during a previously scheduled absence. Torres expressed her excitement about the role, noting her deep personal connection to the music and her Cuban heritage.
