Ginevra Elkann presents Le rose di Marrakech at Rome Film Festival

Director Ginevra Elkann presented her third film, ‘Le rose di Marrakech’, at the Rome Film Festival. The intimate work is inspired by Elkann’s personal memories and her process of grieving her grandmother, Marella Caracciolo Agnelli.

Set in a family estate near Marrakech, the film centers on Isabelle, an elderly and ailing woman played by Fanny Ardant. Isabelle lives in a beautiful Moroccan garden that serves as a refuge from solitude and external chaos, though her peaceful existence is challenged by new responsibilities facing her housekeeper, Leila.

The production is a collaboration between Asmara Films and Rai Cinema, with distribution in Italy handled by Lucky Red. The film explores themes of beauty, memory, and the emotional ambiguity of isolation.
