Ginger shots: scientific evidence on health benefits and weight loss claims

Ginger shots, concentrated beverages made from fresh ginger root juice, have gained significant popularity on social media platforms like TikTok. While often promoted for weight loss and general health improvements, experts note that scientific evidence for these specific claims remains limited.

Nutritionists, including Clarissa Lenherr, highlight that ginger contains compounds such as gingerol, which possess anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. These attributes may help support the immune system, alleviate nausea or dizziness, and assist with digestive issues like bloating, gas, and constipation, particularly for individuals with irritable bowel syndrome.

Regarding weight management, some studies suggest ginger may reduce body weight and waist-to-hip ratios. However, specialists warn that most existing research has been conducted on animals or human cells in laboratory settings. Consequently, there is currently insufficient conclusive evidence in humans to recommend ginger shots as an effective method for weight loss.
