Ginnastica Fabriano athletes face 12-month suspension
Approximately 140 athletes at Ginnastica Fabriano face a potential 12-month suspension from competitive activity following a ruling by the Federazione Ginnastica d’Italia. The sanctions stem from a dispute involving approximately 52,000 euros in contested reimbursements.
During a meeting between club representatives and roughly one hundred parents, tensions rose as families questioned why they were not informed of the situation sooner. Club officials, including new president Piergentili and lawyer Canafoglia, addressed the crowd. Canafoglia has announced an appeal against the decision and a request for a precautionary suspension of the ruling.
To prevent the athletes from being sidelined, officials are considering the use of a “bridge club” (società-ponte) to allow the gymnasts to continue competing temporarily while the legal process unfolds.
