Giorgio Mulè proposes Sicily become a Mediterranean hub
During the fourth Italpress Awards in Washington, D.C., Giorgio Mulè, Vice President of the Chamber of Deputies, discussed the future development of Sicily. Mulè proposed that the island should strive to become a Mediterranean hub, comparing its potential economic and technological transformation to that of Singapore.
Mulè emphasized that Sicily must move beyond its current geographic limitations and recurring emergencies, specifically citing water shortages and wildfires. He suggested that by leveraging the Mattei Plan, Sicily could play a vital role in infrastructure, culture, and training, particularly in its relations with Africa. He advocated for long-term programming to transform the region over the next two to three years.
